The position is not eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.Job Type: ClassifiedDepartment: County AttorneyAbout the PositionThe Civil Counsel attorney works within the Civil Services Division of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Government Advice, and Elected Officials Group. This Practice Group provides legal advice and representation to County officers, including the Board of Supervisors, Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Sheriff, Recorder, Treasurer, School Superintendent, and County Attorney. It also provides legal advice to many Departments in County government that report to the County Manager, including Office of Management and Budget, Justice Courts, Public Health, Public Fiduciary, Medical Examiner, Animal Care and Control, Materials Management, and Facilities Management. In this role, you will focus on litigation and advisory work representing Maricopa County, its agencies, and employees in State and Federal Courts. You will collaborate with other attorneys and paralegals in and out of the office, as well as with clients, in drafting motions, reports, and other documents, negotiating, and working with opposing counsel to assist in achieving compliance.About the Office of County AttorneyThe Civil Services Division of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office serves as a full-service law firm that provides legal representation and advice to the County government, its various elected officials and agencies, as well as the dedicated employees of Maricopa County.
