Due to our continued growth, we are looking to hire an attorney in the State of Iowa to join our team. The In-House Counsel position provides legal support to both our company and the clients we serve, which includes reviewing, redlining, and drafting contracts for our company and our clients; keeping tabs on current litigation matters; providing legal advice and counsel to both our company and the clients we serve; and provides support to the Chief Legal Officer. The essential functions of the In-House Counsel position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides legal advice and counsel to the company and its clients and in other general business related areas;
  • Reviews and prepares various contracts, agreements, and other legal documents for the company and its clients;
  • Promotes legal, compliance, and risk management best practices throughout the company and to the company's clients;
  • May coordinate and work with outside counsel on a variety of legal matters, including but not limited to litigation and employment law matters;
  • Maintains and updates the filing system for the legal department;
  • Retrieves information and/or documents when requested by our clients;
  • Drafts written responses or replies by phone, letter, or e-mail when necessary;
  • Requests information from our clients when needed;
  • Works independently and within the legal team on special non-recurring and ongoing projects;
  • Proofreads documents for spelling, grammar, and layout, and makes appropriate changes as necessary. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy;
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with vendors, visitors, outside attorneys, peers, and supervisors;
  • Required Education
    • JD from an accredited law school; and
    • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Iowa.
    Preferred Experience
    • 4+ years of experience as an attorney.

    • Strong business skills, with the ability to balance business needs with legal advice; and
    • Able to work with different departments outside of the legal department; and
    • Strong reading, writing, and communication skills; and
    • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; and
    • Demonstrates a roll up your sleeves style of work ethic; and
    • Possess strong organizational, time management, and project management skills; and
    • Able to prioritize, coordinate, and satisfy numerous competing requests for the legal department; and
    • Flexible and willing to work on a broad range of legal and non-legal matters.
