REPRESENTING A LEADER IN the construction industry, we are searching for a full-time, In-House Attorney with Litigation Experience (Construction and Real Estate Contracts) REQUIREMENTS: Primary focus on construction contracts and real estate development disputes.
Should be able to proactively issue spot in contracts for potential liability; Should have experience monitoring regulation changes and alerting/monitoring compliance (particularly OSHA and/or environmental); Must have appeared in court, be able to conduct depositions, and work on discovery; Planning or zoning board experience a PLUS Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal support on a wide range of litigation matters related to construction contracts and real estate, handling cases in federal and state courts.
- Attend depositions, court conferences, and trials, representing our organization effectively and professionally.
- Manage pleadings and documentary discovery processes efficiently to gather relevant information for litigation cases.
- Evaluate liability and damages accurately to develop effective legal strategies and arguments.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare persuasive briefs and motions to support litigation efforts.
- Participate in special projects as assigned and perform additional duties as required to contribute to the overall success of the organization.
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and outside counsel when necessary to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
- Review and provide legal advice on commercial transactions, including contracts and other documents, to support our internal teams.
- Maintain high-performance standards, including regular attendance and punctuality.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in New Jersey (required) and New York or Connecticut (preferred).
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in litigation, with a focus on Construction Contract Disputes, commercial, and Construction Labor Law cases.
- Demonstrated ability to strategize for litigation, respond promptly to court deadlines, and perform oral arguments at motion hearings.
- Excellent understanding of legal principles as they relate to federal and state court procedures. Understanding of tax law and OSHA compliance is a plus.
- Successful track record of trying cases to verdict.
- Proficient in using Microsoft 365 tools and technology.
- Knowledge of land use, development, and planning is a plus.
