WHO WE ARE
The Office of the County Attorney provides legal advice and representation to all County departments, agencies, instrumentalities, boards, and commissions, including the County Council, and all their employees. The Office also provides legal defense for cases involving Montgomery County and other governmental entities which participate in the Montgomery County Self-Insurance Program (including the Board of Education for Montgomery County, Montgomery College, and the Housing Opportunities Commission) and all their employees.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Montgomery County, Maryland's Office of the County Attorney is currently recruiting a full-time attorney for the Division of Zoning, Land Use & Economic Development. This division represents and advises the County Executive, the County Council, and various County departments, including: the Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Department of Permitting Services and the Department of Libraries.

This position requires the ability to attend meetings, both in person and via video conferencing, and to perform work at locations outside of the Rockville office.
The position may be filled at the Assistant County Attorney II, Grade N27 (salary: $84,599 - $136,359) or Assistant County Attorney III, Grade N32 (salary: $104,007 - $168,473) level.
All Levels Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.
Experience:
If filled as an Assistant County Attorney II: Two (2) years of professional experience as an attorney, including trial experience.
If filled as an Assistant County Attorney III: Four (4) years of post-degree legal experience. The qualified applicant must have significant expertise in the following practice areas: real property, real property closings, zoning, and eminent domain. Litigation experience is required.
There are no preferred criteria. All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated Qualified, placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for interview.
