MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree or Doctor of Audiology degree is required.Possession of licensure and current registration as an Audiologist in New York State.Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Audiologist 2 position independently examines, assesses, diagnoses, manages, and treats individuals who have hearing disorders and related balance or communication problems. The position also provides consultant services for treatment planning and evaluation within community settings.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Clinical responsibilities will consist of:- Complete comprehensive diagnostic audiological evaluations for adults with developmental disabilities. - Monitor and record changes in individuals' conditions and maintain a variety of records, in accordance with agency guidelines and requirements. - Educate individuals on techniques to prevent hearing loss; and counsel individuals to cope with hearing loss.- Provide training to employees regarding ear pathology, hearing aids, working with hearing impaired individuals, and aural rehabilitation services.The ideal candidate would be an independent, highly organized, self-motivated professional dedicated to providing services designed to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities. 1. The Audiologist 2 will be responsible to provide services to individuals within the 14 county Broome/CNY catchment area inclusive of Valley Ridge, SOCIF.2. 50% Travel would be expected to the following locations: Binghamton, Rome, Norwich and SyracuseAdditional Comments Location can be at either: 200 W Dominick Street Rome, NY 13440 OR,4601 Nixon Park Drive Syracuse, NY 13215 OR,Broome DDSO 249 Glenwood Road Binghamton, NY 13905Additional Comments NY HELPS This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).? HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment.? This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status.? You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.? •If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. •Local Bidding Agreements will be honored. •Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
