Job Description:
General Responsibilities:Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare financial statements, provide advice, or audit and evaluate statements prepared by others. Install or advise on systems for recording costs or other financial and budgetary data.Essential Job Duties:
  • Conduct a systematic and comprehensive examination and appraisal of financial records, financial and management reports, management controls, policies, and practices affecting or reflecting an activity's financial condition and operating results.
  • Collect and analyze data to detect deficiencies in controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or noncompliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.
  • Inspect accounting books and systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to accepted accounting procedures.
  • Apply audit sampling techniques, analyze internal controls, and examine financial records, procedures, and administrative controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and program policies.
  • Assist supervisors by accumulating data, maintaining records, preparing reports, and performing other assigned tasks.
  • Ensure progress, quality control, and efficient use of time and resources in the production process.
  • Prepare working papers and draft audit reports, ensuring policy conformance, professional tone, and clarity in supporting facts and conclusions.
  • Prepare audit reports to provide information on program operations and identify causes of deficiencies or problems.
  • Recommend corrective actions such as modifying management systems, financial and accounting systems, workflows, lines of authority, and other corrective measures.
  • Examine inventory to verify journal and ledger entries.
  • Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
    • Fundamental knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
    • Ability to analyze and evaluate data, identify issues in documentation, and suggest solutions.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks thoroughly.
    • Proficiency in mathematical calculations and tabulations, with the ability to analyze, compare, and interpret facts and figures accurately.
    • Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously under time constraints and in stressful situations.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen and discuss facts and concerns with clients, managers, and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in using technology and software applications, including office suite, database management, project planning tools, accounting software, and electronic storage software.
    • Knowledge of the company's policies and procedures.
    • Understanding of and commitment to Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
    • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration from an accredited institution, or equivalent education or work experience. A Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or Master of Accountancy (MAcc) is preferred.
    • A national accounting certificate or a Florida Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing is desired.
    • At least three (3) years of audit experience in a professional setting is preferred.
    • Demonstrated general knowledge and use of QuickBooks Online.
    • Demonstrated understanding and use of Breeze project management or similar software.
    • Working knowledge of audit-specific software, such as Thomson Reuters Advance Flow, is preferred.
