Job Description:

Our client is a respected public accounting firm located on Long Island. They are seeking an experienced Audit Director to join their team, with a clear path to partnership as part of their succession plan.

You will lead their audit practice, overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements for a wide range of clients. You will play a key role in maintaining client relationships and mentoring their audit team. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and coordination of audit engagements, including risk assessment, audit strategy, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and firm policies. Review audit workpapers, financial statements, and audit reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Mentor and develop audit staff and managers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment. Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices. Serve as a technical resource for the firm and clients.
  • Identify opportunities for new business and assist in the growth of the audit practice. Participate in networking events and marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the audit practice, aligning with the firm s long-term goals.
  • Lead and manage multiple audit engagements and teams, ensuring timely and accurate completion of audits.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing exceptional service and addressing client needs and concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in public accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Extensive experience in audit and assurance services.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and relevant regulatory requirements. Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
