The Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector's Office is actively recruiting applicants for the position of Audit Manager for the Ada District Office. Our goal is to promote accountability and fiscal integrity in state and local government.
RESPONSIBILITES: The Audit Manager supervises audits within an assigned area; oversees all aspects of assigned audits, including planning, performance, and review; ensures audit work is properly performed and assigned in a manner to complete audits in accordance with applicable audit standards, contracts, time budgets, and schedules; ensures that audit findings are supported in the audit reports, communicated effectively, and objective audit reports are prepared; serves as the primary point of contact for audited entities; follows up on the results of external peer reviews to take appropriate corrective action for areas of assigned responsibility; supervises staff; and provides staff training, including assisting in the instruction of continuing professional education. Some travel is required.
This is the leadership, supervisory level of the job family, where incumbents are at a manager level and have responsibility for direction and supervision of supervisors, individual contributors, and the department or function. Incumbents are responsible for the planning, distribution, reviews, and approval of assigned staffs' work. In addition, this position is responsible for all aspects of supervision.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and six years of accounting and/or auditing experience. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required at this level includes knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), auditing standards, techniques, and methodologies, laws and regulations, and systems; communicating effectively to a variety of audiences on multiple topics; providing required services in a professional and courteous manner, and principles and practice of supervision.
Skills required at this level include critical thinking and problem-solving; attention to detail, interpersonal skills; verbal communication; active listening; and computer skills.
Abilities required at this level include the ability to review and analyze accounting records and business practices; prepare audit work papers, reports, and recommendations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; communicate effectively; work independently with limited instruction or supervision; complete or participate in various types of audits and complete required reports; comprehend and carry out complex auditing procedures; perform a wide range of audit functions; and to supervise a team of auditors.
Preference given to applicants who demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and those who have strong communication and time management skills, the ability to build effective working relationships, and a strong interest in continued professional development.

Special Requirements
Some agencies may require a bachelor's degree in a specific area of study, such as accounting.
Some agencies may give preference to candidates with certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or other similar professional certification.
