DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Audit Specialist 1, you will be responsible for conducting evaluations on financial and performance aspects of various programs, including Domestic Relations Sections, the State Collection and Disbursement Unit, special improvement project funds, employment programs, and the Access and Visitation programs in Pennsylvania. The audits are important in ensuring that federal funds are being used appropriately and in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations. The audits can also establish best practices and policies for the proper management of funds, leading to more successful outcomes for those who receive them. In addition, you will communicate with the Auditor in Charge, Audit Specialist 3, and Audit Manager concerning all aspects of each audit, including any potential risks or biases that may arise. You will be involved in the planning and preparation of the audits, ensuring that the samples selected are non-biased and representative of the overall population. Your attention to detail and communication in this role will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the auditing process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
* Full-time employment (37.5-hour work week)
* Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
* Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You would be able to telework Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with a once a week office day to occur on Wednesday. You may also need to report to the headquarters location as needed. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
* One year as a Financial Programs Trainee; or
* Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program within the previous eighteen (18) months; or
* A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by eighteen (18) credits in accounting, and auditing; or
* Any equivalent combination of experience and training which included the required eighteen (18) credits in accounting and auditing.
* Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
