Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). A *master's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation and one year of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial or field auditing, where you were responsible for the full range of activities in the design and/or review, analysis and management of accounting systems, resulting in the preparation of, or recommendations on, financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principals; OR3. Possession of a currently valid Certified Public Accountant license and registration issued by New York State.For Auditor 1 Full performance level:Either 1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses and two years of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial or field auditing, where you were responsible for the full range of activities in the design and/or review, analysis and management of accounting systems, resulting in the preparation of, or recommendations on, financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principals; OR2. Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: As an Auditor 1 in the Unemployment Insurance Division, you would perform field audits and investigations of employer accounts and records to ensure proper reporting of wages and payments of Unemployment Insurance contributions. Audits or investigations may be conducted at the employer's place of business or at the location of the employer's representative. Duties include, but are not limited to, the examination of employers' financial records, the gathering of information, and the preparation of written documentation. Other duties include contacting employers to collect employer liabilities due the Department of Labor.
