The University Auto Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the University auto fleet (40+), and heavy equipment, which includes preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance. This position reports to the Grounds Manager and will assistant the Auto Mechanic in general equipment maintenance and care, shop and inventory organization, driving for parts pick up, taking vehicles to DEQ, etc.
Core Duties
Assist Auto Mechanic with:
* With maintenance of campus fleet and equipment
* Cleaning and organization of campus fleet and Auto shop
* Running for parts and shuttling vehicles to service vendors
* Parts and inventory management, including some data entry.
* Other relevant tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
* Ability to think through and solve problems in real-time
* Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive University vehicles on campus
* Must consent to a driving record background check
* Ability to learn and abide by safety policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
* Mechanical aptitude and interest
* Previous experience with basic vehicle or motorized equipment maintenance.
* Previous experience using basic hand tools
Physical Requirements
* Ability to lift up to 50lbs
* Ability to work on your feet and be mobile for extended periods of time
* Comfortable in working in a not fully climatized garage, and getting dirty.
