Job Description:

The Automated Operator is a skilled professional responsible for operating and maintaining automated equipment. This role involves greater responsibility compared to entry-level positions but does not require work in sterile environments as performed by Gown Qualified Operators. The Automated Operator oversees the operation of their assigned machine, ensuring readiness for production, maintaining efficiency, and managing production closeout. Key duties include documentation, issue escalation, and directing personnel who support the machine.

This position reports to the shift/area Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor and collaborates closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Operational Excellence teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare equipment for production according to batch records.
  • Verify materials prior to use, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure continuous operation by maintaining material availability and monitoring levels within the machine.
  • Perform minor machine adjustments within validated parameters to optimize efficiency.
  • Supervise and direct support personnel performing tasks such as cleaning and clearing the machine, ensuring Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) compliance before tasks begin.
  • Collaborate with support teams and escalate issues affecting efficiency.
  • Monitor and report machine performance metrics, including downtime, throughput, and reject rates.
  • Conduct in-process verifications and resolve challenges as required.
  • Oversee production closeout activities, including material returns, reconciliations, cleaning, clearance, and batch record reviews.
  • Identify and escalate quality-related concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Uphold a clean and organized work environment to support 5S sustainability initiatives.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and comply with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Perform tasks at lower operator levels or in leadership roles as needed when not assigned to automated equipment.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • 2 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma.
  • 1 year of relevant experience with an Associate's Degree.
  • Bachelor's Degree with no prior experience.
