Automation Engineer Co-Op
Bayer is looking for an automation engineering co-op at the Indianola, PA location. For the automation co-op is role we are seeking a college or graduate-level students with well-rounded, technical skills and experience in the fields of medical devices, engineering (ideally in mechanical or biomedical engineering). As a member of the Lab Services team, you will work closely with the technical teams of various programs and projects to define requirements and solve problems during device development. You will work with existing products in lifecycle engineering efforts, as well as new products in various stages of new product development. The focus of this assignment will be working within our Automation Lab developing and improving our test methodologies. As a co-op, you will gain valuable experience in medical device development and engineering.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
Designing and troubleshooting robotic systems, test fixtures, and their associated software for wide range of automation systems;
Supporting formal testing and informal troubleshooting of New Product Development (NPD) and Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) projects (as needed) with specific focus on utilizing test automation;
Developing new or improving existing test methods for repetitive testing devised specifically to ensure that the product meets and/or continues to meet design requirements, specifications, and regulations with focus on limiting human interaction with the systems;
Demonstrated ability in drafting test plans, test methods, test protocols, and test reports;
Participating in project team(s) activities by execution of automation test protocols/dry runs and validation of automation test set-ups;
Proactively providing technical consultation, leadership, and advice to project teams on how to set up and manage test automation;
Demonstrating strong ability in mechanical design;
Working knowledge of a relevant CAD design software: SolidWorks or CREO is desirable;
Working knowledge of programming/scripting: ABB robotic OR similar robotic systems is desirable.

Required Qualifications:
Ability to work 40 hours per week;
Enrollment in an accredited bachelor's degree program with a concentration in Mechanical and/or Biomedical Engineering required with completion of at least sophomore year;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required;
Coursework in medical device development/regulatory affairs is preferred.
