Automation Engineer IV
Position Summary
The Automation Engineer IV is responsible for designing, sourcing, building, and testing automated assembly equipment used in the biodefense, clinical, and life sciences markets. This role involves planning, scheduling, and managing automation projects to support new product development and transition prototypes into manufacturing. The Automation Engineer IV will also oversee and guide the work of other team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test automation equipment.
- Lead complex projects involving robotics, controls, fluid handling equipment, machine vision, pick-and-place, part handling, sorting, conveying, and packaging.
- Program software to control automation equipment.
- Design Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
- Participate in peer reviews of automation designs and present project findings.
- Expand existing systems to enable new production capabilities.
- Plan, schedule, and manage automation projects.
- Mentor and supervise Automation Engineers and Technicians, providing training and performance evaluations.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automation equipment design, with a focus on manufacturing and assembly.
- Proficiency in specifying, selecting, and integrating assembly, process control, and inspection instrumentation such as industrial robots, PLCs, machine vision, and sensors.
- 3D CAD experience (preferably SolidWorks) required.
- Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred.
