General Summary:
The Automation Engineer will support our manufacturing process through automation initiatives by designing, developing, and implementing automation throughout the corporation.
Essential Duties:
* Develop and justify automation projects driving safety, efficiencies and cost saving's improvements in all Flambeau operations.
* Create CAD generated detailed layouts, fixtures and end of arm tooling design models as required.
* Create bills of materials, dimensional part drawings and estimates as needed.
* Coordinate and support Project Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Outsourcing as required to develop complete technical specifications.
* Project management - create timelines and flow charts, and coordinate meetings for effective communication throughout the team.
* Research and develop new technology to help improve production.
* Create and generate prototypes as required for feasibility studies.
* Strives to maintain high levels of knowledge related to current and new automation, tooling, machinery, materials and processes.
* Travel to other Flambeau facilities. Vendors or customers as required.
* All other duties assigned by Manager.
Education/Certification Requirements:
* 4 year degree in related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skill Requirements:
* Understanding of automation design, fixture design, build and construction.
* Knowledge in the field of robotics and programming
* 2-4 years of experience in plastics processing and manufacturing strongly preferred.
* Willingness to acquire further knowledge and experience through training opportunities.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Strong 3-D CAD/CAM (SDRC) skills.
* Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Solidworks, and Ladder Logic Programming.
Physical Requirements:
* This is largely a sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer, copy machine, laptop and cell phone. May be required to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Much of the work is completed in a corporate office / lab environment; however, some work will take place on the production floor.
