Summary The Automation and Controls Engineer will be a crucial part of a newly formed team focused on implementing automation and innovative technologies across high-speed bottling and packaging operations in North America. As a key player in this new role, you'll be responsible for designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting automation systems that enhance production efficiency, boost quality, and promote safety. You'll work closely with production, technical operations, and procurement teams to deliver solutions that align with our business goals and growth strategy. Key Responsibilities
- Project Support: Assist in developing and managing project scopes, budgets, and timelines in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Automation Design & Implementation: Design and implement automation systems for bottling, packaging, processing, and material handling operations.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for automation systems, collaborating with vendors to resolve issues.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance line efficiency, safety, quality, and cost performance.
- Engineering Assistance: Guide site engineers on automation design concepts, specifications, and requirements.
- Digital Integration: Support the implementation of digitization tools like MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and DCS (Distributed Control System) solutions.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of best practices and emerging technologies in automation and controls, specifically for bottling and packaging environments.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Technical Engineering preferred).
- Experience: 2-3 years of engineering or technical experience in a high-speed bottling or closely related manufacturing industry is required.
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including hands-on experience with PLCs, VFDs, robotics, and ladder logic.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; SAP experience is a plus.
- Communication & Leadership: Strong collaboration and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 60%, based on project needs and timelines.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in automation projects within the food, beverage, or consumer goods sector.
- Exposure to working with equipment integrators and high-speed bottling lines.
- Familiarity with the latest packaging and processing automation technologies.
