Automation Engineer – Lafayette, IN – $100k - $120k/year
Aegis Worldwide is actively seeking a talented Automation Engineer to join our team! This role is pivotal in designing and developing systems for manufacturing operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and leadership to assess current automation capabilities and identify opportunities for improvement. By creating detailed project roadmaps, you will drive automation projects that align with business objectives, enhancing production efficiency through innovative problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering:
- Interpret and update electrical wiring diagrams using AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
- Develop electrical designs, schematics, and drawings in AutoCAD.
- Review mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements.
- Research and source components for assembly.
- Follow and help establish electrical design standards.
- Create and interpret electrical bills of materials (BOMs).
- Safely work with electrical panels using hand tools and a multimeter.
- Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per specifications.
- Ensure quality standards during assembly and address inquiries.
- Provide technical input for sales quotes.
Software Engineering:
- Design, develop, and program PLC code to meet specifications.
- Create GUI/communication interfaces and networking solutions based on customer requirements.
- Review and redesign legacy code as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues.
- Write user manuals and documentation for programs.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Boolean Logic and PLC Ladder Logic.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Controls/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in automation engineering.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design and drafting.
- Hands-on experience programming PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Expertise in HMI/OIT system configuration and design.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for control systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Detail-oriented, innovative problem solver capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
