Eligible for $1,500 signing bonus. Automation Engineering Technicians required to do infrequent travel.Machine design and assembly (Primary) - Documentation of engineering changes.
- Generate and maintain machine Bill of Materials (BOM's).
- Setup and start automation machinery in production and troubleshoot and debug.
- Manage and work with mechanical components, bearings, pneumatic systems.
- Use and direct automation staff on electrical sensors, PLC's, motor drives, vision systems.
- Maintain accurate BOM and design changes for all jobs.
- Work closely with engineers to develop new automation systems.
- Manage assigned projects through completion and provide management progress reports as needed.
- Analyze and record test results and prepare written testing documentation.
- Test performance of electro-mechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as multimeters and electronic controls testing equipment.
- Prioritizing tasks based on production and service needs.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned to aid Prescott Metal/EAM to achieve its goals.
Installation and Service - Assist with service and technical phone support when needed.
- Manage machine setup and run up through customer approval process.
- Assist or supervise automation setup, startup, and debug at customer facility (travel bonus included).
- Occasional travel required to help install and train customers on how to use the machine.
Engineering support (Secondary) - Mechanical assembly design and/or electrical assembly design, using AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
- Generate mechanical and electrical blueprints and drawings.
- Assist Engineering department in design, concept, quoting, and customer relations.
- Drafting mechanical components for manufacturing.
- Create assembly drawings.
- Writing machine operation and service manuals and bulletins.
Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required: - Bachelor's or associate degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Use of Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor)
- Strong electrical wiring and crimping skills, small to large wire gauge and cable assemblies.
- Strong knowledge and experience operating power tools and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical fabrication drawings, including tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret production job orders and bills of materials.
- Experience with electrical control panels, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, managing inventory and company assets.
- Ability to design and build jibs and fixtures.
- Experience working with engineers on projects.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems, components and assemblies and basic ERP systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Ability to use and understand precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, squares, scales, etc.
- Understanding of PLC's and PLC programing and experience with Automated Control Systems.
- Ability to travel to perform service and/or machine installations.
- Technical instruction manual writing abilities.
- Good communication skills and organizational skills.
Physical Demands/Work Conditions: - The technician stands for 8-10 hours per day with periodic sitting, walking, stooping, and reaching, as well as frequently lifting manually and/or moving material up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Typical manufacturing environment, subject to dust, metal shavings, machinery oil, and electrical hazards.
- Frequently working with machinery that has pinch points and rotating parts.
