Position Overview

Develops automation and equipment solutions for Hunter Douglas North America (HDNA) manufacturing and fabrication operations.

What you'll do

  • An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.)
  • Collaborates with HDNA Engineering team members to identify equipment and automation needs and opportunities. Works closely with onsite Process Engineering teams at multiple locations across HDNA to create project scope and specifications for equipment and automation projects.
  • Researches potential vendors to provide equipment and automation to meet specifications. Coordinates gathering and evaluation of proposals to determine best fit solution.
  • Collaborates with HDNA Engineering team members to evaluate and identify best in class equipment and automation solutions for each process area and product family.
  • Leads a team of CAD Designers to develop custom equipment and fixturing for our manufacturing and fabrication processes. Provides design input and guidance to ensure robust mechanical designs that meet project specifications.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously. Organizes and prioritizes work. Develops detailed project plans including: project specifications & goals, timelines, resource requirements and budgets. Clearly communicates project status to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Position requires travel to multiple HDNA locations in the US and Mexico.
  • Position requires regular and predictable attendance.
  • Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.

Who you are

An employee in this position, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following:

  • Solid knowledge of the principles of Mechanical Engineering and the design of mechanical equipment and devices.
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of industrial manufacturing automation and equipment
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of CAD (computer-aided design) software.
  • Skill in the use of CAD software to create mechanical models of parts and complex assemblies of parts to create complete systems.
  • Solid knowledge of computer use and software such as, Word, Excel and CAD.
  • Skill in writing clear & concise technical documents (project specifications).
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective work relationships.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources.
  • Acceptable Training and Experience includes a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field. Five (5) plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment working directly with automation and production equipment.

  • Basic General familiarity; aware of universal principles and able to locate details/access resources. Understanding of a determinate number of functions or activities.
  • Solid Working knowledge; able to apply general principles. Understanding of most functions, operations or activities. Includes a general knowledge of applicable theory.
  • Expert Able to apply general principles and specific details. Understanding of virtually all functions, operations or activities. Includes full comprehension of applicable theory.

Annual base salary range: $96,000 - $108,000

Bonus target range: 20-25%
