We are looking for an experienced Journeyman Technician to be an integral part of our growing teamAs a Certified Automotive Technician, you will be crucial in providing a phenomenal customer experience by conducting diagnostic procedures to determine needed repairs accurately and effectively as well as performing inspections in order to provide maintenance requirements to our customers.Responsibilities
- Performing vehicle repairs and maintenance procedures as outlined on the repair order efficiently and accurately per standards set by dealership and vehicle manufacturer
- Communicating with Service Advisors as well as parts personnel throughout the process of each vehicle inspection/repair/maintenance procedure to effectively set proper customer expectations for parts availability, repair/maintenance costs and completion times
- Conducting 21-point multi-vehicle inspections to make accurate recommendations for repairs and needed maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe and reliable before vehicle is returned to customer
- Correctly documenting all work performed including any repairs done, maintenance completed and properly listing any diagnostic procedures/inspections performed as well as the reason for the work that was done. This includes completed stories for warranty repair procedures from beginning to end.
- Keeping all training up-to-date per General Motors requirements
- Maintaining a clean and safe work place at all times to be compliant with shop requirements
- Properly checking out and returning all shop provided tools in a clean and orderly fashion, ensuring tools are clean and ready for the next technician to use
- Staying up-to-date on factory technical bulletins and repair documents
- Driving customer loyalty and shop revenue by providing outstanding repair experience for customer
- Providing feedback to Service Manager/Assistant Service Manager/Dispatcher when issues arise to keep shop production flowing smoothly
- Assisting Semi-skilled and Apprentice technicians when needed to ensure the continuation of proper service and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older to meet requirements to work in the Service Center
- Must possess a valid US-issued Driver's License
- Must demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background check and MVR
- ASE or OEM Certification highly preferred
- Ability to safely drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles
- Capable of operating shop equipment including lifts, racks, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, etc
- Completion of a related post-secondary program, training courses or equivalent work experience
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic, which includes a high level of integrity and strong moral compass
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as creating stories for repairs is a required part of the position
- Attention to detail in all aspects
- Performing any Union requirements including but not limited to paying Union dues per Local 701 guidelines
