Automotive Service Technician (Grant Funded)

Olive-Harvey College is looking for a full time Automotive Technician responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing heavy duty trucks, buses, and other vehicles used in the commercial truckdriving training program for the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL) department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects vehicles, determines diagnoses and repairs vehicles according to specifications.
- Performs preventive and routine maintenance on vehicles to ensure they remain operable.
- Uses different hand and power tools and equipment to repair vehicles while constantly utilizing safety precautions.
- Maintains service records on each vehicle. Documents all work performed and recommended on each vehicle.
- Orders repair supplies and maintains stockroom inventories.
- Prepares daily vehicle inspection reports.
- Ensures that all vehicles meet state inspection requirements.
- Keeps shop area organized and safe.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- All CCC employees are required to adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in diesel truck repair.
- Must obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in T5 Suspension & Steering and T8 Preventive Maintenance within 1 year of hire; once received must maintain certifications. A one-time extension of 6 months beyond the 1-year time frame may be granted upon approval by the College President.
- Ability to diagnose the cause of mechanical failure, complex drivability problems, and safety problems in automotive equipment and determine appropriate repairs.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and skillfully.
- Ability to safely lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of the techniques and procedures to diagnose mechanical and operating problems in automotive equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance inspection techniques and knowledge of safe working techniques.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal.
