Merchant's Auto is seeking applicants for our new Automotive Technician Apprentice Program. This is an entry-level position ideal for those with a passion for cars looking to gain automotive experience while getting a no-cost education. Duties include maintaining shop appearance, express maintenance services such as oil change, tire rotation, fluid exchanges, and assisting mechanics. This apprenticeship program combines practical on-the-job training and classroom learning, allowing students to learn the necessary skills for an entry-level technician position from highly skilled tradespeople. The apprenticeship provides a practical pathway to an in-demand career, providing wage increases as you meet milestones along the way. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship program, you will be issued a portable skills credential (Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship). This Apprenticeship is certified by the US Department of Labor and contains a combination of classes with the NH Community College System and on-the-job training. Location: Merchants Auto in Hooksett, NHWhat Your Day Will Look Like:On-the-job Training:Phase 1
- Change engine oil and filter, perform visual inspection of all undercar and under hood components, inspect tires, steering, suspension, brakes, and lights.
Phase 2
- To oversee and perform basic mechanical services related to changing engine oil and filter on vehicles (building upon responsibilities outlined above)

The Skills You Bring:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in written format
- Strong Customer Service skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to think on your feet
- Ability to work with basic automotive hand tools including air tools
- Knowledge of MS Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Physically able to get into and out of vehicles
- Working with hands overhead for several minutes at a time - frequently
The Expertise You Have:
- Interest in or exposure to the field of basic automotive maintenance highly desired
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, bending
- Minimal lifting, up to 70 lbs.
- Physically able to get into and out of vehicles

Requirements:
- Must hold a valid U.S. driver's license and an acceptable driving record at time of hire.
- Must continue to keep a satisfactory driving record, as determined by Merchants, and remain eligible to be insured by the company's vehicle insurance carrier. Employee must cooperate in completing any required authorizations or paperwork for regular motor vehicle checks.
