Auto Technician Job Description
Position Summary:
An Auto Technician provides high-quality service by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing cars, trucks, and other vehicles. They use advanced diagnostic tools and mechanical skills to identify issues and perform necessary repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Diagnostics: Use computerized tools to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and computer-related problems in vehicles.
- Repair & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, and more complex repairs such as engine or transmission work.
- Inspections: Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to ensure safety and functionality, including emissions tests and vehicle performance evaluations.
- Parts Replacement: Replace faulty or worn-out vehicle parts, including brakes, tires, air filters, belts, hoses, and batteries.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of services performed and parts used.
- Customer Service: Communicate with customers regarding vehicle conditions, repairs needed, and estimated costs and timelines.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, environmental standards, and vehicle manufacturer guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with automotive repair tools and equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of vehicle issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with various vehicle makes and models.
- Ability to work with vehicle electrical systems and computer software.
- Familiarity with hybrid and electric vehicles.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy parts and tools.
- Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Work Environment:
