Position Summary:

An Auto Technician provides high-quality service by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing cars, trucks, and other vehicles. They use advanced diagnostic tools and mechanical skills to identify issues and perform necessary repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Diagnostics: Use computerized tools to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and computer-related problems in vehicles.
  • Repair & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, and more complex repairs such as engine or transmission work.
  • Inspections: Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to ensure safety and functionality, including emissions tests and vehicle performance evaluations.
  • Parts Replacement: Replace faulty or worn-out vehicle parts, including brakes, tires, air filters, belts, hoses, and batteries.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of services performed and parts used.
  • Customer Service: Communicate with customers regarding vehicle conditions, repairs needed, and estimated costs and timelines.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, environmental standards, and vehicle manufacturer guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with automotive repair tools and equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of vehicle issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with various vehicle makes and models.
  • Ability to work with vehicle electrical systems and computer software.
  • Familiarity with hybrid and electric vehicles.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy parts and tools.
  • Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

Work Environment:

Auto Technicians typically work in repair shops, dealerships, or service centers, handling both routine maintenance and complex vehicle repairs. The role may involve working on weekends or evenings depending on the employer's schedule.
