Job Description
This role supports passenger vehicle R&D via the testing/validation of electrical systems and components. We are looking for engineers with experience test/validating any of the following systems and their components:
* Electrical Control Units
* Starter Motor
* Generator
* Electrical Charge-Discharge Controls
* Powertrain/Chassis/Engine sensors and controls
* Audio Systems
* Navigation Systems
* Camera Systems
* In-Vehicle Entertainment
* Telephonic Systems
* Driver Displays
The primary job activities are:
* Develop electrical, performance, and functional requirements for new passenger vehicles
* Investigate and understand the functional requirements (including hardware, software, and communication) for assigned systems and components
* Setup test equipment, collect test results/data, verify test accuracy and completeness, analyze results, summarize findings, present reports, and coordinate with stakeholders to address issues
* Develop, write, and issue related engineering specifications as required
* Brainstorm, develop, propose, and justify new related functions and systems to meet the market requirements
* Ensure all necessary system/component testing is completed...performing some basic electrical testing by oneself as needed. Responsible to ensure assigned systems and components achieve product acceptance for mass production.
* Develop all necessary reports, presentations or technical documents to explain and/or make a record of the development process and activities
* Support factory, sales, suppliers, etc. as required for product explanations, owner's manual reviews, manufacturing issues, supply concerns, or market complaints
Requirements
Required Experience
* 2 to 6 years in an electrical test position within a transportation industry (automotive, heavy truck, off-road vehicles, ag equipment, aerospace, specialty vehicle, etc)
Required Education
* B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discpline
Required Skills
* Proven ability to independently test/validate electrical systems and component within a transportation application context
* Test data acquisition (sensor setup, data collection)
* Strong technical communication (English) - both written and oral
* Basic hand-on mechanical skills as you will be helping prepare test vehicles, troubleshooting issues, and proposing solutions
* Self driven and able to complete tasks independently
* Personal time and task management
