Department Summary

The Aviation and Technology Department at San Jose State University offers Bachelor of Science in Aviation (BS Aviation) and a Master of Science in Quality Assurance (MSQA). The Aviation Program provides four options: Professional Flight (Pilots), Aviation Management (Management), Flight Operations (Operations), and Maintenance Management (Maintenance). The department has an enrollment of 270 students and features a Flight Simulation Lab with over 10 simulators, along with access to the County's Reid-Hillview Airport. Students can participate in internships and engage in individual research projects with faculty.

Brief Description of Duties

• Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
• Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Ensure all classes meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid).
• Work with the Department Chair and Course Coordinators to develop course materials, teach effectively, maintain appropriate office hours, and cooperate in the peer-review process.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
• PhD or MS degree in the field or related areas required; under exceptional cases, a BS degree with experience may suffice.
• Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline.
• Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.

Compensation

Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated starting salary:

• L-A / Range 2 - $5507 - $5959
• L-B / Range 3 - $6221 - $7481
• L-C / Range 4 - $6825 - $9431
• L-D / Range 5 - $8593 - $10347

Part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester (full-time AY annual salary = rate x 12).
