Position Summary:The Aviation QC Inspection Manager (Chief Inspector) will report to the Director ofQuality/Operations and is responsible for the operations of the Inspection Department.The Aviation QC Inspection Manager will have authority to perform and enforce allactions required by the Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual.Duties & Responsibilities Ensure that all maintenance and alterations performed by this repair station arein accordance with the Ratings and Operations Specifications of the repairstation. Ensure that all housing, facilities, equipment, materials and data meet theapplicable requirements for the certificate and ratings this Repair Station holds. Determine equivalency of tools and equipment used by the repair station (otherthan that recommended by manufacturers) and document that determination. Ensure all technical data provided in the manufacturer's instructions for continuedairworthiness, service bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives,government and industry standard practices and other data acceptable to orapproved by the FAA, are current and available to persons performingmaintenance and alterations on articles. Train, direct, supervise and assist all personnel performing work under the repairstation certificate as directed by the Director of Quality/Operations. Ensure all inspectors are thoroughly familiar with the inspection methods,techniques, aids, tools and equipment used within their assigned area ofresponsibility. Perform all actions required for Return to Service Submit reports to the head of Quality Assurance of serious failures, malfunctionsor defects in accordance with the procedures described in this manual. Ensure that work accomplished outside the repair station's fixed location isperformed in accordance with the repair station manuals. Ensure appropriate calibrations and checks are made on the tools andequipment used by the repair station, and that the calibrated tools are sent outfor calibration as required. Perform in-depth quality verification using various inspection methods todetermine airworthiness of a product. Analyze engineering publications, shop travelers, FAA, and manufacturer'stechnical data to determine nature and extent of inspection requirements. Determines the most practical inspection method and technique and plansappropriate sequence of operation. Selects and uses the appropriate precision measuring tools to dimensionallyinspect and determine part tolerance and clearances including but not limited tomicrometers, calipers, bore gauges, test and drop indicators, surface plates,feelers gauges, and torque wrenches. Review article trace documentation to accurately identify suspect unapprovedparts. Locate and accurately interpret technical data. Locate and accurately interpret blueprints and aircraft drawings. Ability to identify discrepancies on aircraft parts. Keeps accurate, neat and legible records of the maintenance performed onaircraft articles. Conducts audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completionprior to approval for return to service. Conduct in-process inspections on maintenance being performed. Use company forms to document discrepancies and communicate findings tomechanics and department leads. Perform final inspection using appropriate technical data to verify proper articleconfiguration and operation. Perform First Article Inspections and communicate findings in verbal and writtenformat. Complete capability assessments as required to ensure all work being performedfalls within repair station ratings, and that the repair station has appropriatelytrained personnel, tooling and equipment, approved/accepted technical data, andprocesses to be added to the repair stations limited ratings capability list. Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications: The person must have an A&P License or the ability to obtain a repairmancertificate for return to service of applicable ratings. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of component maintenanceexperience at an airline or MRO and at least 3 years of inspection experience. Must have a thorough understanding of the applicable Federal AviationRegulations, as well as inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used todetermine the quality or airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance,repair, or alterations.Preferred Qualifications: Strong leadership traits with a focus on good communication and interpersonalskills Demonstrated record of exemplifying integrity and sound ethical judgment Strong oral and written communication skills Strategic thinking Ability to accept accountability, assume pro-active leadership, demonstrateinitiative and lead by example in teamwork, cross-unit co-operation, andinformation sharing. Deploys structured and rigorous approaches to problem solving.Travel: May be asked to travel up to 10% of the time.Language: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.Physical Demands: Ability to walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for extended periods oftime. Ability to climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands. Ability to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bendelbows and knees and reach above and below shoulders. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Work at heights up to 80 feet above the ground. Ability to maneuver into different positions to accomplish required tasks.Working Conditions:The environmental characteristic for this position is a commercial aviation repair stationand warehouse setting that is fully air conditioned! Schedule will be Monday - Friday.Candidates should be able to adapt to the environments listed.
