Join us at Sidus Space to be part of something extraordinary and help shape the future of space access!Job SummaryThe Avionics Quality Inspection Lead is responsible for overseeing the inspection of fabricated wire harnesses and cables used in electrical and electronic equipment systems for satellites and space system components for the International Space Station, Artemis and Orion programs as well as commercial programs. Also responsible for inspections related to assembling satellite buses and subsystems, and assembly of other complex electromechanical projects. Additionally, the Avionics Quality Inspection Lead will provide certification training for Avionics Technicians. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications and Customer requirements utilizing best method of inspection.
  • Review work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
  • Review drawings or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Collaborate with Engineers to determine inspection frequency to assure first time quality.
  • Review data and Customer/Industry workmanship standards to determine requirements for inspection and compliance.
  • Correlate and record inspection data to document in required format.
  • Identify items with detail acceptance-rejection status.
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning and to ensure that products are not flawed and notify appropriate personnel of production problems, equipment repair or maintenance needs.
  • Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
  • Provide certification training for Avionics Technicians on various standards to include IPC J-Std-001, IPC-620, and NASA 8739.4
  • Other duties as assigned**
Required Education and Experience
  • Seven (7+) years' experience as an electrical/cable fabrication technician or other relevant industry experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in related field preferred. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • Experience working with wire crimping and connector soldering.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 working environment
Required Skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply various technical data such as prints, specifications and utilize specialized inspection and hand tools
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix problems that may arise
  • Solution oriented while committed to consistency and process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able present information, concepts and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical or non-technical individuals both internal and external to the company
Desired Skills and Experience
  • IPC J-Std-001 and/or IPC-620 certification, NASA 8739.4 certified.
  • Electromechanical systems and assembly background.
