As an Avionics Technician, here is what you'll be doing at the core, day to day.
Install and test complex avionics equipment and electrical systems on aircraft.
Comply with environmental health/safety policies and procedures.
Perform and document all work per appropriate manuals and regulations.
Remove, repair and re-install any problematic avionics equipment before aircraft is cleared.
Assemble and install electrical components.
Operate ground support equipment if required.
Provide accurate diagnosis of avionics problem(s).
Maintain detailed records of all repairs and worked performed on aircraft.
Here is what's required to succeed as an Avionics Technician.
Minimum of 1 year of work experience or substantiated equivalent experience.
Corporate jet aircraft or commercial aircraft experience preferred.
Military aircraft maintenance experience (Depot/Isochronal/Phase inspections) is a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) or Airframe (A) License is preferred.
GROL (General Radiotelephone Operator License) or AET (Aircraft Electronics Technician) Certification preferred.
Certification from Avionics, Electric A/C Technical school or equivalent military training is preferred.
Comfortable working with technology / entering aircraft maintenance actions into a computer-based system.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Excellent analytical skills and attention-to-detail.
Strong working knowledge of aviation safety practices and technology.
Understand various aircraft systems, such as hydraulics and flight controls.
Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA), if applicable.
Must be comfortable with shift work; we are a 24/7 operation with 12-hour shifts which include days, nights, and weekends.
Possess (basic) set of tools.
Ability to effectively communicate aircraft maintenance actions verbally and in writing.
