Job Title: AWS Cloud Solutions ArchitectDepartment: Operations - Services Reports To: RavenTek Program ManagerLocation: Washington, D.C. flexibility for teleworkSchedule: Monday - FridayHours: Full-time, 40-hours/weekFLSA Status: Exempt Clearance: Top SecretPosition SummaryAWS Cloud Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the design and analysis of technology solutions to ensure solutions meet business needs and provide leadership to tasks related to developing an enterprise's solutions architecture. The AWS Cloud Solutions Architect provides a hybrid cloud strategy to Azure Commercial and Government community Clouds, Amazon Web Services, and other clouds utilizing the department's approved platforms. The architect guides engineering, networking, and administration staff in managing, operating, and monitoring the systems for classified and unclassified cloud environments and providing backup hands-on technical support. The performance of the AWS Cloud Solutions Architect position is key to RavenTek's performance on the DOS NOMB contract, and therefore RavenTek's mission to support the Department of State.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the technical direction of prospective business opportunities, developing system architectures, and providing technical leadership and solutions for proposals and strategic pursuits.
  • Propose new and innovative cloud and infrastructure solutions to complex challenges.
  • Assess market-level technology trends and capabilities of complementary solutions, enabling larger-scale solution offerings.
  • Assist with determining the level of effort estimates for various efforts, using the information provided as part of the solicitation documentation, to determine the most cost-efficient and effective staffing approaches.
  • Develop lifecycle cost models to support architecture decisions.
  • Review customer provided information and outside sources to understand potential issues/problems currently faced and develop an approach to solving these problems.
  • Ensure solutions are of high quality, performance, and scalable.
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
  • Submit MSRs as required.
  • Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills
  • Subject matter expert on pipelines as well as many of the functions related to system monitoring and task automation to support the applications, security, and to manage cost objectives.
  • Subject matter expertise for pipeline maintenance and enhancements, and to provide opportunities for automation and efficiencies as well as excellent support to other cross-team activities.
  • Knowledge of increased monitoring capabilities with implementation of app insights in response to a security directive.
  • Experience providing analyses and reports to support customer requirements, strategic planning, and progress for systems operations and lifecycle management.
  • Must be proficient in developing and delivering presentations on solutions and business cases/values.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of CI/CD, security monitoring, and cost management with strong Visual Studio/VS Code knowledge desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze policies, procedures, and goals of the organization and provide actionable recommendations.
Education & Work Experience
  • Must possess a master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or similar technical discipline and 7 years' experience in cloud architecture and solutions including IaaS, Pass, and Sass technologies.
  • 10 years' experience architecting in AWS desired, but 7 years required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large-scale cloud technology projects and implementing and improving organizational processes for IT governance and life cycle.
  • Experience with Microsoft DevOps Services Engineer Project Administrator desired but not required.
  • Experience with Senior Web App.Net and Agular developer desired but not required.
Certifications, Licenses
  • Professional Cloud Certificate for AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.

  • Top-Secret Clearance.
Work EnvironmentEmployees will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations.
