Provide students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotion, physical, and social growth. Support the implementation of curriculum, lessons and other instructional materials/activities to meet student's behavioral and academic needs. Qualifications: Education/Certification:High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate Formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two (2) years of study at an institution of higher learning Valid Texas educational aide certificate Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work with children and/or adolescents Ability to communicate effectively Experience: Experience working with children and/or adolescents Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Help with the implementation of social skills instruction and positive behavioral supports with students. Support and work with individual students or groups as needed. Maintain a safe and orderly area in the SPED classroom. Help with inventory of instructional materials, books, and equipment. Keep records of student progress: behavior, grades, attendance, etc. Supervise students throughout the day in theSPED classroom. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. Participate in staff development training programs and/or activities. Co-facilitate social skills groups. Keep the supervisor informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Communicate with school staff regarding students' academic progress and/or needs as per request of the supervisor. Help students develop organizational skills and academic goal setting. Assist in establishing and maintaining high standards of students' conduct and academic performance. Provide a positive, calm, and consistent learning environment for students. Communicate with students in a positive and encouraging way. Monitor time students spend in the SPED classroom. Help keep administrative records. Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents. Communicate with students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference, email, or district-approved website. Maintain confidentiality of students and program information.
