Voyatek is seeking applicants to occupy the position of Back-End Software Developer II within our team. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of data modeling in a NoSQL database, with experience building data pipelines to ingest and transform data, maintaining schemas, and developing APIs to leverage data in software applications. This is a remote opportunity.

Responsibilities:

Build, maintain, and test data pipelines to ingest data from multiple sources, using server-side JavaScript for data harmonization and backend processing

Maintain mapped schemas

Build analytic datasets in conjunction with data scientists to support machine learning and advanced analytics

Develop and maintain processes for manipulating data, securing data, and ensuring data reliability

Develop APIs to support complex queries against the database and user interactions within applications

Create unit tests and documentation as part of standard service/API development

Develop code in adherence to security policies and procedures

Research and introduce best practices and new processes as needed to solve business problems and improve existing solutions

Collaborate with other data engineers, developers, and project staff in an Agile framework through the entire SDLC to understand requirements, design, build, and deploy data pipelines to support proprietary software applications

Develop code using Git for source code management and collaboration

Qualifications:

Bachelors in math, data science, computer science, or related field or equivalent combination experience of education and experience

5 -8 years of professional experience

3+ year experience working with NoSQL database technologies (such as MarkLogic, MongoDB, ArangoDB, etc.)

3+ years of experience with Server-Side JavaScript

Experience developing OpenAPI documentation or working with YAML

Experience with Apache NiFi or similar ETL tool

Understanding of the SDLC and familiarity with modern Agile development methodologies

Ability to articulate coding rationale and problem-solving thought process

Enthusiastic about data integration and reliability

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work remotely, be self-motivated, and innovative

Strong collaboration skills and ability to work well in a team environment

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. This includes, but is not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and geographic location. At Voyatek, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current annual range is $80,800 to $129,300.
