JOB BRIEF
The Bakery Clerk provides support to the Bakery department and staff. Primary focus is to prepare and display product in the department in a clean, neat and expedient manner, ensuring all product is fresh, rotated, and well stocked for our customers while maintaining great customer service.
JOB DUTIES
* Orally communicates with customers and co-workers on products and prices.
* Weighs certain items.
* Prices customer selections using label machine and calculators.
* Understands procedures for taking deposits on purchases.
* Figures mathematical calculations assessing prices paid and change due.
* Checkouts customer purchases using register.
* Completes necessary paperwork to countdown cash register (end shift).
* Provides samples for customers.
* Demonstrates salesmanship on a routine basis.
* Answers telephone to communicate with internal and external customers.
* Retrieves product from cooler to fill displays.
* Stocks and replenishes counters with product.
* Rotates merchandise for freshness.
* Checks merchandise for outdated product; sorts newly received merchandise.
* Cleans and maintains work station.
Secondary Job Duties:
* Restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
* Sweep floors, clean utensils and work tables, wipe counter tops, and front of display cases.
* Keep display cases, cooler and freezer organized and clean; clean walls, fans, drains, and equipment.
* Present favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene and business attitude.
* Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.
* Other duties assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
* High School diploma or equivalent experience.
* 18 years of age or older.
* Can handle speed and pressure in response to the demands of the job and within quality control guidelines.

Physical Demands:
* Occasionally- Sitting, pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 6 foot height, kneeling, and crouching.

* Continuously- Standing on tile/concrete, walking on tile/concrete, manual dexterity, talking, seeing, hearing and smelling.
Safety Risk Factors:
* Occasionally-Loud noise, cluttered floor surface, contact with skin irritant, toxic exposure (see Material Safety Data Sheets), nuisance dust, fumes, sprays, and hazardous cleaning solutions.
* Frequently-Twisting of back and neck, slippery floor surface and contact with sharp objects.
