Job Summary Under general supervision, the Banquet Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, prepares and executes high-quality dishes for events such as wedding, golf tournaments, corporate gatherings, and special occasions. Ensure meals are prepared and presented to the highest standards, exceeding the guests' expectations, while adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee's position. Operational:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to banquet event orders, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency in all dishes served.
- Complete all necessary food prep tasks.
- Grill, saut, bake, fry or cook menu items to order, adjusting recipes and techniques as needed to accommodate specific dietary preferences or restrictions.
- Plate and garnish banquet dishes with precision and attention to detail, ensuring that each plate is visually appealing and reflective of the event's theme or style.
- Work closely with the banquet team to coordinate timing and delivery of courses, ensuring that all dishes are served timely and at the correct temperature according to banquet event order time schedule.
- Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, communicate with management to ensure necessary items are ordered in a timely manner, and minimize waste through proper portioning and storage practices.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the culinary team, banquet servers, Catering Sales Manager, and others to ensure seamless execution of banquet events and exceptional banquet experiences.
- Take out trash when needed.
Other:
- Participates in pre-shift banquet meetings, taste tests, and training.
- Wash dishes and pots, operate dish washing equipment, and distribute and store clean dishes and pots.
- Conform with all safety standards and use of all appropriate safety equipment.
- Follow good personal hygiene guidelines.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and Experience Required
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary school is preferred but not required.
- Minimum one year cooking (line and/or prep) experience as a cook in a banquet or catering setting preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of cooking techniques, culinary terminology, and banquet service protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating a memorable banquet event experience.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong teamwork and collaboration: Ability to collaborate with kitchen staff and other restaurant staff
- Strong communication skills including effective listening.
- Highly organized to manage multiple orders

- Demonstrated working knowledge of food cooking regulations.

- Ability to use event software

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required: Position may utilize golf carts; thus, must have a valid driver's license. Unexpired Arizona food certifications. Must be at least 19 years of age. Other Regular attendance is required. Additional hours including weekends may be required on a regular basis to fulfill duties of position. At times, an individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
