**Banquet Manager**

Food & Beverage Phippsburg, Maine Minimum Experience **Experienced** JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for coordinating, supervising, and planning all details as pertained on a Banquet Event Orders (BEO) including setting up and break down of banquet functions and supervising all banquet employees. Maintain standards of food and beverage quality and service to maximize profits and provide exceptional customer satisfaction. The candidate must have strong service skills and an eye for detail. This position is responsible for banquets and resort F&B activities

The Banquet Manager position reports to the Culinary Artistic Director and will need to work independently as well as a team leader. This is a full-time seasonal position from mid-May-October

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assure product quality and consistency is maintained

* Daily communication with the Catering Sales Manager

* Supervise and monitor the performance of all banquet staff employees, including setup & breakdown of all banquet functions, placement of linens tables & chairs in accordance with productivity standards, and cost control

* Monitor and enforce compliance with all pertinent local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to food sanitation operations and employment

* Adhere to policies and standards set by Sebasco and state laws pertaining to alcohol consumption

* Perform coaching, training, and development with direct reports

* Promote guest satisfaction throughout the resort

* Promote creativity and innovation with the staff

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards

* Walkthrough all events prior to starting time with the Sales Manager to ensure all details are met to clients signed contract.

* Promote cooperation and teamwork

* Ability to read and execute details from a BEO

* Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day

* Maintain positive guest and associate relations at all times

* Timely resolution of guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction

* Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas

* Maintain complete knowledge of:

a) All products, offerings, and services

b) P.O.S., PMS, and manual system procedures

c) Daily house count, arrivals/departures, V.I.P.'s

d) Scheduled in-house group activities, locations, and times

* Monitor guest reactions and confer frequently with service associates to ensure guest satisfaction

* Provide continuous feedback to associates regarding performance. Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and associate morale

**GENERAL OBLIGATIONS:**

Resort staff must be kind, respectful, and friendly to guests, visitors, and other Resort staff, provide excellent guest services by being courteous and professional and be able to handle difficulties with high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.

Be punctual and have a good attendance record. The Resort Manager must approve any time off, in advance.

All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

To do your work in a safe and orderly manner; promptly reporting personal injuries and unsafe conditions; be concerned for the safety of others and work together in improving the safety of the Resort.

To protect Resort property, equipment, and materials from damage and loss, avoiding waste from spoilage, overuse, or careless handling.

To cooperate with your fellow employees by giving assistance as required and to follow Resort rules and policies relating to yourself, your job, your fellow employees and guests.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, staff may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Resort.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

**ORGANIZATION AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:**

Communicate clearly with poise, voice control and confidence using correct English and a well-modulated voice.

Good listening skills and the ability to effectively deal with people.

Sound personal judgment and specialized knowledge of most areas of the Resort and surrounding area.

Very Organized and detailed oriented.

Ability to change easily and frequently from one activity to another.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:**

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:**

TIPS / Serve Safe Certification preferred.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:**

Previous hospitality management/banquet experience is preferred.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS:**

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and Resort employees.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift, and continuously perform essential functions for an extended period of time, which may require long hours.

The employee must have the ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing as well as the hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
