Reports To: Director of Food & Beverage, General Manager, Catering Director

Job Summary and Objectives:

The Banquet Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the banquets department. Ensures all banquet activities are carried out professionally and to standard while maximizing profitability. Manages, motivates, and empowers staff. Must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Assures a consistent high standard of appearance, hospitality, cleanliness and organization of banquet areas.

Job Tasks and Duties:

· Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food and beverage operations pertaining to banquet functions

· Review banquet/ event orders with the Catering Manager on a regular basis to ensure no detail is missed; attending final planning meetings whenever possible

· Prepare floor plans for banquet and catering functions

· Oversee and coordinate set up and tear down of banquet and catering functions

· Create and maintain a positive work environment through team building and serve as a role model for staff

· Have a professional appearance and demeanor and expects the same from staff

· Work with the Director of Food and Beverage to develop a banquet staff training program

· Assist with hiring, training, motivating and reviewing service staff annually

· Prepare staffing schedules and planning of service

· Maintain consistency of service and uphold reputation of the club

· Keep up to date on general club knowledge and promote events and policies

· Place great importance on staff communications and interactions

· Close the banquet facility when needed or as directed by F&B Director. Work schedule as directed

· Work functions as a server, bartender or set up staff when the need arises

· Receive and properly field member feedback concerning food, beverage and service

· Direct pre-shift meetings with dining and banquet personnel

· Consistently assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and proper set-up of dining and banquet rooms

· Greet and welcome members and guests by using their names when possible

· Consult daily with other managers to help ensure the highest level of member satisfaction

· Perform other appropriate tasks and projects assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage

· Flexible work schedule, that may include early mornings and/ or evening hours

Skills and Qualifications:

· 2+ years of progressive banquet. restaurant, private club, or hotel management experience

· Forms effective and productive working relationships which include the ability to lead, motivate, empower, and delegate

· Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills are crucial to the position

· Proven history of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Ability to excel under pressure and adapt quickly and easily to changing priorities

· Experience with POS and labor management

· Strong food, wine and spirits knowledge

· Strong utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Capable of standing and working on your feet for extended periods of time with the ability walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and stretch.
  • Willing to work indoors and out where cold, hot, humid, and noisy conditions exist.
  • Ability to push, pull, and carry small objects up to 40 pounds.
