Job Description:

Barge Dispatcher - St Louis, MO

A barge dispatcher is responsible for managing but not limited to the following:

  • Day to Day harbor dispatching in St. Louis/Cairo

  • Responding to calls/emails from local docks on barge deliveries

  • Coordinate deliveries as necessary with boat/barge efficiency in mind

  • Game planning with harbor tugs on barges that need to be cleared for future deliveries

  • Assisting with customer needs/traffic

  • Sending traffic logs

  • Provide timings/availabilities on barge shifts

  • Answer billing inquires

  • Assisting with tow building coordination

  • Work with harbor tugs on Northbound and Southbound tow configurations

  • Discussing with traders on commodity needs for export

  • Communicating with incoming linehauls

  • Ensuring barge topoff/transfer needs are being fulfilled

  • Maintaining night orders and ensuring all orders have been completed

  • Monitor barge inventory within fleets

  • Manage shuttle runs & barge redeliveries throughout the harbor

  • Coordinating barge cleaning & repair with operations team

  • Assist on harbor tug downtime & planning with operations team

  • Harbor billing and invoicing to customers

  • Assisting with barge transfer data entries

  • Track linehaul turn time data

  • Keeping Fleetcom tags up to date

  • Communication with internal elevators on barge needs for daily loadings
