The Bariatric Clinic Assistant promotes efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate patient support to the bariatric population. The Assistant will possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a basic understanding of clinical tasks and exceptional attention to detail.
The Bariatric Clinic Assistant will assist with administrative as well as clinical tasks, such as prepping and maintaining patient records for clinic, recording patients' vital signs and medical information, including medical history and medication reconciliation. The Assistant will prepare rooms for examination, escort patients and assist providers in exam rooms as needed. The Assistant will on occasion assist providers during patient encounters and will perform front-end tasks including scanning medical records into patient charts and maintaining par levels of medical supplies.
The Bariatric Clinic Assistant will assist with collecting data for performance improvement of the Bariatric program and upkeep of statistics that are required for program accreditation. The Assistant will help with problem solving to help prevent a potential crisis, assess, evaluate, and manage operational issues that pertain to the obese and morbidly obese patient population.
The Clinic Assistant will support patients with a multitude of administrative tasks that may include insurance pre-certifications and authorizations, as well as scheduling.
The Bariatric Clinic Assistant will be required to assist and attend from time to time patient support groups, seminars and health fairs as well as other duties as assigned. Working late on occasion or an occasional weekend is not out of the realm of possibility. The Bariatric Clinic Assistant will be responsible for any additional duties that may be assigned.
Job Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* CPR required
* Medical Assistant or equivalent certification preferred.
* Efficiently uses multiple computer -based programs (Excel, Word, digital record system such as Cerner)
* Up to one year of experience required; one to two years preferred.
* Experience effectively dealing with the public
* -Demonstrates knowledge of the various bariatric procedures the program offers
* -Sufficient experience and/or training in the nursing profession as it relates to Bariatric surgery
* -Skills and competencies necessary to provide care to patients ranging from young adults to geriatrics
* -Ability to communicate open and efficiently to all of the customers of CHHCenter for Surgical Weight Control.
* -Demonstrate ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
* -Demonstrate compassion and sensitivity to the Bariatric patients.
