We are looking for a full time closing barista with open availability (40 hours per week)

Emma's Torch Cafe at 345 Smith St.

Who Are We?

At Emma's Torch we provide refugees with culinary training, ESL classes and interview preparation. We set them up for successful employment in an industry in which their cultural heritage and cuisine can be celebrated. What's more, we provide a community in which they can build supportive relationships.

You are committed to fostering a positive environment for our guests and fellow coworkers. Prior barista experience is necessary, a positive attitude and hunger to learn is mandatory. Being multilingual is a plus!

Responsibilities

• Make and serve coffee and tea beverages
• Greet our guests while being warm and welcoming
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation
• Comply with health and safety regulations (NYS Food Handler's a plus)
• Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance
• Contribute to a positive team environment
• Train students on working in the cafe and communicate with Cafe Manager regarding student progress

Requirements

• Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Flexibility to work various shifts
• Basic math skills
• Ability to gauge customers' preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
