Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter's 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel's 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building's legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan - a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.
Core Essential Functions- Prepare and Serve Beverages: Skillfully prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, following company recipes and ensuring quality and consistency.
- Customer Service: Greet customers, take orders, answer questions about menu items, and provide friendly and attentive service throughout their visit.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the coffee bar and work area clean and organized, complying with health and safety standards.
- Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, restock items as needed, and report supply needs to the manager.
- Cash Handling: Process transactions using the cash register, handle cash and card payments accurately, and manage the till in compliance with company policies.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other team members, assisting when needed to ensure a smooth operation and a pleasant experience for customers.
- Upsell and Recommend: Suggest menu items to customers based on their preferences and promote specials or new items.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with coffee equipment and drink preparation is an advantage. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is a plus.
- Availability: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Pay Range: Hourly $18- $20
