We are seeking an experienced and passionate bartender who will play a crucial role in the successful launch and daily operations of our new 400-seat French brasserie located in Grand Central Station. This bustling establishment will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, catering to commuters, tourists, and local diners alike.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including classic cocktails, French wines, and specialty drinks
- Interact with customers professionally, take orders, and make knowledgeable recommendations on food and drink pairings
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area
- Process payments and handle cash transactions accurately
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations, including responsible alcohol service
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service
- Assist in creating and updating seasonal drink menus
- Manage inventory and place orders for bar supplies as needed
- Ensure excellent customer service during all meal periods, from breakfast through dinner
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bartender, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or brasserie setting
- Excellent knowledge of cocktail mixing, garnishing, and serving techniques
- Familiarity with French wines, spirits, and culinary traditions
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills to handle a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of POS systems and basic computer skills
- Valid alcohol service certification
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French is a plus
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move continuously during shifts
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Dexterity to handle glassware, bottles, and bar equipment safely
