Job Description: BartenderReports to: Front of House Supervisor/Assistant General ManagerClassification: Hourly/Non-ExemptSUMMARYA Bartender is responsible for exceeding customer expectations through friendly, prompt and attentive service tailored to each customer's preference. A Bartender will efficiently craft each drink to perfection and serve customers responsibly. The Bartender utilizes their extensive knowledge of the food and drink menu to recommend and reinforce customer orders. A Bartender serves as a resource for Servers in the restaurant to answer questions about our Spirited Drinks. The Bartender is committed to safe food handling, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards at all times and prepares drinks with proper safety equipment, tools and recipe specifications.PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Welcoming customers, determining beverage preferences, making recommendations and taking drink orders;
- Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses and serving beverages to customers;
- Checking identification to ensure customers are of legal age to purchase alcohol and ensuring that customers are not over-served;
- Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are properly stocked;
- Adhering to all food and drink safety and quality regulations;
- Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate, returning correct change to patrons and balancing the cash register;
- Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment as needed.
RequirementsRequired:Must be a minimum of 21 years of ageValid BASSET (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training) card and Food Handler's Certification as required by IL Food Safety RegulationsAbility to effectively communicate in English (verbal and written)Positive, engaging personality and professional appearanceStrong task and time management abilitiesAbility to quickly and efficiently prepare complicated cocktail recipes.Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniquesAbility to stand, walk, bend, etc. for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.Preferred:Previous Bartending experience preferred but not required.
