Bellefaire JCB helps more than 43,000 youth and their families yearly achieve resiliency, dignity and self-sufficiency through its more than 25 programs.Position Summary: The Outreach Worker for the Basic Center Program is responsible for an immediate response to hotline calls for homeless youth. The worker will intervene by stabilizing the crisis, educating youth and their families/guardians, and coordinating services. Additionally, the on-call staff will document all calls into the hotline, and relay the information to the program manager via phone or email. The on-call staff will report to the Basic Center program manager or designated supervisor.
- Respond to the hotline calls with compassion, direct instructions, and an open mind to meet the diverse needs of our callers. The calls will be received 24/7 7 days a week including holidays.
- Assure the paperwork will be completed timely fashion.
- Work cooperatively with Host Home families
- Assure that standards/regulations set by accrediting RHY.
- Represent the agency in the development or maintenance of relationship with other organizations including community agencies, public agencies and referral sources.
- Acquire practical understanding of basic child, adolescent and family development, issues that are relevant to homeless youth, interventions used in helping runaway and homeless teens.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
- Ability to qualify as an approved agency driver.
- Own a cell phone to be used for on-call responsibilities.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.
- Prefer valid Ohio LSW, LPC, MFT or minimally one year experience in the child welfare field.
- Must be available weekends and evenings
- Proven experience in working with troubled teens and their families.
- Practical or clinical understanding of the underlying issues that lead to youth homelessness
- Experience working with youth by providing crisis intervention, service coordination, skill building and family education.
- Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- Practical and creative problem solving skills.
