CATEGORICALLY FUNDED - POSITION CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING AND BOARD APPROVAL

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the assigned administrator, the Basic Needs Specialist provides student support services addressing insecurities related to access to food, housing, employment, transportation, academic and financial literacy. The Specialist is responsible for assisting with continuing care resources, non-clinical support services, student advocacy, information, and referral coordination to on and off campus resources.

Under the direction of the assigned administrator, the Specialist will develop the basic needs program and center, identify gaps in services, conduct in-reach and outreach to identify resource staff that will interface with center staff and participants needed to build, support, and create a network that focused on improving the health, wellness, and resilience of our student community. The Specialist will lead and facilitate the campus community in the planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing of existing programs and services designed to identify and meet the needs of under-resourced students in an equitable, student centered, and holistic fashion. The Specialist is responsible for education and outreach to students, staff, and community members.

The work produced by this position requires strong knowledge and experience in areas of resiliency, health and wellness, student advocacy, food and housing insecurity, college and community support resources and trauma informed interventions. The position provides consultation to the campus community, collaborates with district and sister college leads, and facilitates meetings with program/center Advisory Committee. The Specialist will provide direct support and college case management with students.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: An Associate degree and three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience involving complex record maintenance including at least one year in an admissions and records. The equivalent would be 7 years of increasingly responsible clerical experience, including one year in admissions and records.
