The position of Groundskeeper is a 12-month full-time hourly position that will include some overtime when necessary. While landscaping experience is preferred, we are willing to train eager candidates. The Groundskeeper will report to the Grounds Supervisor. The Groundskeeper is responsible for working with a team to maintain our facilities' overall aesthetics and safety. Regular working hours are from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional activities such as social events, snow removal, weather conditions, or athletics scheduling may require your attendance outside of regular working hours. These demands must be satisfied as part of your job duties.Responsibilities
- Support the care and maintenance of athletic campus facilities, including tennis courts, grass, and regular synthetic turf fields, lawn cutting, trimming, fertilizing, watering, aerating, painting lines, setting up goals, and performing periodic maintenance of athletics fields.
- Assist with efforts surrounding grooming, weeding, planting, and maintaining the general landscaping surrounding buildings campus-wide.
- Repair pathways, sidewalks, and minor asphalt maintenance.
- Plan for regularly scheduled maintenance of grounds equipment.
- Participate in snow removal and salting of entryways, driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots to keep the campus safe and prepared for school opening.
- Assist with additional duties such as major grounds projects, event set-ups, and traffic control when needed.
- Uphold a safe work environment and promote proper grounds-keeping procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous landscaping experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Minimal working knowledge of operating and maintaining mechanical equipment used for grounds-keeping care, including tractors, lawnmowers, backpack blowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, golf carts, UTVs, and fertilizer spreaders. Familiarity with a backhoe and trenching equipment operation is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to walk, stand, or crouch for long periods while performing various job duties associated with landscaping during a regular day. Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Be able to work in a team environment and follow directions.
- Positive work attitude and a creative eye towards landscaping.
