Come learn how it's made and help produce our popular Palmers Cocoa Butter products! Responsible for the integrity of the batched product using appropriate equipment and processes. Compounders are required to comply with departmental safety requirements, contribute to the quality improvement process and interface and communicate within the department. Essential Job Function:
- They will follow daily schedule for batch assignments. They will attain batch cards from the appropriate file in the batching office.
- If batch to be compounded is not complete and in the proper file notify the batching manager immediately
- Employee is to make sure to completely check weight and material codes on containers before batching. The integrity of the batch is ultimately the compounder's responsibility.
- The compounder is to make sure to follow all batching procedures and HMIS guidelines when compounding all batches. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this procedure.
- During the cooling and mixing phases and/or other free time the compounder is responsible for reviewing the batching schedule for the following day.
- The compounder will check the progress of all batches with the pre-weigher. If batch is pre weighted, stage it properly near the appropriate batching tank.
- The compounder will review the batch cards and procedures for upcoming batches.
- The compounder is responsible for preparing tanks, pumps, fillers, hoses, fittings, etc. for upcoming batches. They will be responsible for re-sanitizing equipment utilizing 70% IPA where necessary.
- The employee will communicate to the pump/sanitizer what the requirements are for the following day. It is their responsibility to assure all is prepared.
- The compounder will submit a sample and batch card to Quality Control and attain approval for the batch.
- If adjustments are necessary, the compounder will go to the Batching Pre Weigh Lead or Batching Manager for a weight calculations sheet. When it is allocated, they will go to the pre-weigher for the proper chemical. The compounder will add adjustments to the batch and reflect the adjustments on the Batch card. Steps six and seven will be repeated as necessary.
- The compounder will notify the batching manager when the batch is approved for pumping.
