GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, Team Leader II will be responsible for assisting the Director with all aspects of the Youth & Family Programs, including but not limited to, teaching classes, supervising and evaluating activity leaders, event planning, record-keeping and accounting. The Team Leader II will interact positively with parents, children and activity leaders to develop a trusting relationship.

KNOW HOW

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, or its equivalent.
  • One to two years experience in early childhood setting preferred and completion of requirements for the CDA certification and/or one-year experience in early childhood education/child development preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of children ages 2-11 and an understanding of their needs and development.
  • Must have experience in supervising staff and handling conflict situations with parents and staff.
  • Requires independent action and judgment and a high level of organization, tact and maturity.
  • Must be capable of establishing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, parents, program participants, and with the general public.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and possess the core values that meet the YMCA mission.
  • Ability to type and use Microsoft Office and Unity, or have basic knowledge and the ability to learn these programs and use accordingly.
  • Ability to obtain Heartsaver CPR and First Aid certifications, Child Abuse Prevention training, Safety and Risk Management, New Employee Orientation and other training required for YMCA Youth & Family employees within 60-90 days of employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff.
