Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Ability to work outdoors, and on boats, in all weather conditions.

Ability to complete basic math.

Ability to work in a team setting.

Attention to detail.

Ability to operate or learn to operate small boats.

Ability to learn and use vessel based equipment such as winches, radios and electronics.

Ability to lift more than 50 pounds.

Ability to embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers and the public.

Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.

Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.

Ability, or willingness to learn time card software.

Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Ability to prioritize tasks and make minor decisions.

Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude.

Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Ability to display commitment and enthusiasm for the mission of CCE.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft Office proficiency (especially excel);

Experience working on boats and in fabrication shops;

Knowledge of the organization, operation, philosophy and objectives of Cooperative Extension

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Administrative Responsibilities:

Direction - 0%

Management - 0%

Coordination/Operation - 95%

Operate and maintain small boats.

Assisting in construction and repair of equipment (pumps, winches, motors).

Must assist in maintaining a clean facility.

Replenishment of supplies and inventory.

Clean and deploy nets, requiring ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds.

Maintain vessel operation and repair logs.

Conduct oil changes and ongoing maintenance on vehicles and trailers that dont require a certified mechanic.

Prepare purchase orders for purchases.

Enter labor hours in electronic software.

Assist with promotion of aquaculture in Suffolk County.

As directed, assist team with projects.

Maintain equipment, troubleshoot if necessary and call for repair, as directed.

Participate in bay scallop team projects, as needed.

Assist in promoting bay scallop aquaculture during promotional events at fairs and festivals.

Professional Improvement - 5%

In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.

Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.

Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.

Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

POSITION DETAILS:

This is a Full-Time Non-Exempt position, 40 hours per week.

Pay Rate Type: $20.00 per hour
