Position Type: Student Support ServicesDate Posted: 8/26/2024Location: Administration BuildingThe School District of the City of York Bearcat Opportunity Program (herein BOP ) After School Program Teacher for grades 1-8 provides instruction for the after school program. A BOP After School Program Teacher must demonstrate the vision and passion necessary to lead an innovative program dedicated to educational enrichment and academic excellence. This position reports to the BOP After School Program Director and will be expected to work collaboratively and effectively with the BOP After School Program Director as well as with all BOP staff. A BOP After School Program Teacher is expected to be present each day, demonstrate an appropriate professional decorum, promote an atmosphere conducive to learning, exhibit a customer service mindset, manage deadlines and maintain discipline with energy, integrity, creativity, and drive. Experience and Qualifications 1. Bachelor's Degree in Education preferred 2. Working knowledge of word-processing , spreadsheet, database and other computerized office programs including, but not limited to Google Suite and Microsoft Suite 3. Experience with program coordination, implementation and supervision 4. Experience developing and implementing a budget 5. Basic knowledge of publication layout and design preferred 6. Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, FBI Clearance (self-paid) 7. Drug Screening (self-paid) 8. Letter of Interest, Resume and Application through the District website A BOP After School Program Teacher is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of student lessons in reading/writing, mathematics, and character education in accordance with the School District of the City of York's policies and the BOP After School Program goals. Classroom duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Help deliver targeted and intensive reading/writing and mathematics instruction with a structured, regular routine. 2. Develop strong relationships with students and strong relationships among students. 3. Establish high expectations and after school classroom routines to maximize student engagement and to minimize off-task behaviors. 4. Work directly with building Administrators to ensure effective communication and collaboration. 5. Oversee and monitor student attendance and discipline during program hours. 6. Work with building Administrators and staff to recruit students. 7. Maintain regular communication with all parents regarding student attendance, student progress and student disciplinary matters. 8. Other duties as assigned by the After School Program Director.
- Hours: 3:15pm - 5:15pm
- All School year, 3 days per week. typically Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Some weeks will vary depending on Early Dismiss Schedule.
