Key: *** = Full Time & Part Time Regular Staff OnlyAs a Beef Herdsperson, you will carry out our Mission of Love by performing agricultural production work on a diversified beef cattle and crop farm.Our Beef Herdsperson is responsible for the following:
- Demonstrating skills and technical competence to perform all aspects of beef cattle production, including but not limited to feeding, health care, heat detection and breeding, calving, developing and preparing cattle for show and sale and equipment and fence repair.
- Demonstrating skills and technical competence to perform all aspects of crop production, including but not limited to equipment operations and maintenance, planting, fertilizer and chemical applications according to industry safety standards.
- Assisting in developing and establishing department goals, and implementing policies and procedure for department operations including but not limited to, maximizing production output, achieving optimum feed efficiency, conducting current and accepted herd health care programs and implementing cost effective production goals.
- Demonstrating the ability to communicate with customers interested in purchasing MV cattle.
- Attending routine staff meetings to review safety and equipment operating procedures. Seeking opportunities to acquire continuing education credits through professional growth and development seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
- Developing and supporting strong inter-departmental relationships.
What You Have:
- Minimum of two years practical experience in general farm and livestock production.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Demonstrate mechanical competencies related to farm equipment operation and maintenance.
- A valid PA Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL certification.
- The ability to become a PA Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator within six months of employment.
- Good written, organizational and basic computer skills.
