We operate just over 140 honeybee colonies, perform weekly programming tours and honey tastings, harvest and bottle approximately 2200 lbs. of honey per year and collaborate on projects with almost every department on property. Our pollination team assistant will be trained and entrusted to lend an extra hand to every member of the pollination team through a variety of tasks. Those tasks include packaging and delivering products for culinary and retail use, assembling woodenware, feeding colonies, harvesting honey, assisting on property tours/tastings, and other chores as needed. You will be prepared to work in different capacities depending on seasonal demands. At Southall farm, we blend agricultural production, guest-facing interaction, and aesthetic beauty to achieve a space where passionate farmers grow healthy food that is highlighted by talented chefs to be enjoyed by wonderful guests under the blue skies of middle Tennessee.Requirements:Must hold a valid TIPS certificate for serving guests.Must be at least 21 years of age to appropriately serve guests.The job will also require lifting objects up to 50 lbs. multiple times per day.Operate and work around venomous insects in extreme hot and cold environments.No known allergies to bee stings.Ability to assist our Chocolatiers/Pastry Team in creating our delicious local honey treats.Ability to work Tuesday - Saturday of every week.Ability to work on hands and knees for extended periods of time.Some of your daily work will be guest-facing and you will be required to greet guests politely!Members of the pollination team will be asked to be outside rain or shine!You must demonstrate the ability to stay focused and efficient without supervision.Good communication, teamwork, and a solution-based attitude are all MUSTS.Preference given to those with:Previous beekeeping backgroundFamiliarity with beekeeping operations and farming practicesFlexibility for weekends and holidaysSkills and Experience:Valid driver's license1+ Season of beekeeping experienceEducation:High school diploma or equivalent.Southall Farm and Inn is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
